The general objective of the Competency - Based Curriculum (CBC) is to facilitate success in and enjoyment of learning by all students in the District of Columbia public schools. Individual rates of growth and differences in learning styles are provided for by this approach, which assures that skills requisite to successful adult functioning are met. Each of the four major sections in this evaluation report is associated with one of the four objectives which served to focus the evaluation of the CBC. Each objective is analyzed and reported upon based on data obtained from appropriate items from the Principal/Staff Questionnaires. The four sections of the report reflect the evaluation objectives and include identification of staff development activities related to implementation strategies for CBC; description of CBC program practices implementation; survey of principals' and teachers' success with CBC; and assessment of student outcomes as related to CBC.
