The directory provides information on federally funded programs: the Handicapped Children's Model Programs (HCMPs) which include five Learning Disabilities Research Institutes (LDRIs), and the Programs for Severely/Profoundly Handicapped Children and Youth. The two types of programs are explained and differences noted in an introduction. The overview presents analysis of data provided by 49 HCMPs, 29 programs for severely/profoundly handicapped, and 5 LDRIs. The third section comprises the bulk of the document and includes abstracts of each project along with such information as population served, project served, and evaluation procedures. A product guide lists titles of brochures, newsletters, directories, catalogs, and evaluation instruments, curricula, training guides, literature reviews, and research reports developed by the projects.
