Volume I of a four volume series presents a trainers' guide designed for administrators, assessment personnel, and others involved in the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) for handicapped children in Wyoming. The training content is divided into the following seven topics (with sample subtopics in parentheses): preliminary steps (child find, referral, due process); screening (issues, survey of published instruments); multidisciplinary assessment (sources of bias in evaluation, assessment strategies, comprehensive report writing); determination of eligibility (informing parents of assessment results); IEP development (providing a total service plan); IEP implementation; and IEP review procedures (reviewing annual IEPs). Volume I contains the instructors' guides and scripts for all of the modules except IEP implementation (contained in Volume III). Appended are a preworkshop needs assessment, a list of 23 questions to ask hotels when trying to locate a meeting facility (and a space check sheet form), a list of hints for small group facilitators, and a workshop evaluation form.
