Public Schools Energy Conservation Measures, Report Number 5: Fairmoor Elementary School, Columbus, Ohio.
American Association of School Administrators, Arlington, VA.
Presented is an engineering analysis of energy consumption at Fairmoor Elementary School, Columbus, Ohio. Based upon results of the building investigations, computer simulations and assessments of energy conservation opportunities, researchers estimate that minor changes in the existing building could yield a 50% reduction in energy use. The $25,000 cost of these modifications could be recovered in less than three years by lowered utility bills. Emphasis of the study is upon retrofitting measures which use "off-the-shelf" hardware. This analysis comprises one part of the initial phase of the five-part Saving Schoolhouse Energy Project initiated by the American Association of School Administrators and partially funded by the Federal Energy Administration.
