Epistemology and the Curriculum: The Bio-Ecocultural Cognitive Spiral as Model.
Gagne, Raymond C.
Described is a curriculum theory and construction within an epistemological model whose specific purpose is to serve as a general guide to the Amerindian peoples (Indians and Inuit) in their search for solutions to the problem of cultural survival. The model is also meant to have universal application, especially where there are cultures in conflict. This model can act as a tool of awareness of inter- and intra-cultural dialectics, hence to identifying problems, and to setting up relevant research programs leading to the reshaping of curricula and the reorientation of the other vital forces working to enhance cultural continuity.
