This publication is a compilation of keynote addresses and workshop presentations given at a national conference on the Child Development Associate (CDA) program held in conjunction with the 1979 annual meeting of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The document is divided into eleven sections. Each section represents a particular session, workshop (or combination of workshops) in the day's program. The first section presents an assessment of whether or not the CDA program met specified challenges of the 1970s. The remaining ten sections are titled as follows: (1) Overview of the CDA program; (2) The CDA Assessment and Credentialing System; (3) An update on the Assessment and Credentialing System; (4) Implementation of CDA Training Criteria; (5) Materials and Resources for CDA Training; (6) Representative Approaches to CDA Training; (7) Incorporation of CDA into State and Federal Requirements; (8) New Developments in CDA Training; (9) Developing a CDA Training Program; and (10) Impact and Potential of the CDA Program.
