A study sought to determine the usefulness of the learning women acquire through life experience to entry level jobs in selected occupations. Methodology included sending sixteen sets of nine questionnaires to women in women's centers displaced homemaker centers, and counseling centers in seven states (131 replies, 91 percent response). The questionnaires were designed to determine the frequency and extent of involvement of adult women in homemaking and parenting activities, volunteer work and community service, recreation and hobbies, formal and nonformal education, and paid work. The questionnaires also asked about respondent characteristics and requested self-ratings of competency in twenty-eight skills. Questionnaires designed to identify the importance of certain skills in selecting workers for entry-level jobs in eleven occupations were sent to nine employers in each occupation. Then the self-ratings of adult women's skills were compared with employer selection ratings.
