Presented are transcriptions of a research panel presentation held at the annual meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Boston, Massachusetts, April 1979. The members of the panel are all involved in working directly with children in a clinical setting for pupils with learning disabilities in mathematics and with graduate students in courses on diagnosis and treatment of learning disabilities in mathematics. This document is divided into sections on Clinical Intervention Research as follows: (1) introduction, (2) development of diagnostic and assessment procedures, (3) instructional procedures and exemplars, (4) a clinical case study, (5) mathematics education curriculum specifications, and (6) summary and conclusions.
