The objective of a project was to make vocational educators aware of the many job titles for which physically handicapped persons are currently employed and to aid in planning vocational programs for them. The project identified a list of occupational titles held by physically handicapped individuals, identified teaching procedures for the various types of handicaps, and made some recommendations for improving vocational education programs for them. An Advisory Committee participated in developing a questionnaire and procedures for surveying physically handicapped graduates/completers from 1976-1979 vocational programs as well as businesses and industries in four regions of Kentucky. The identified job titles were tabulated by vocational education region, size of company, type and severity of impairment, and vocational program area. In addition to a final report, two other products resulted from the project--(1) Background and Survey Results and (2) a Manual. (Both are available separately--see Note.)
