Yeshiva Aftermath.
Levenstein, Aaron
National Center for the Study of Collective Bargaining in Higher Education and the Professions Newsletter, v8 n2 May-Jun 1980
Five sections make up the contents of this newsletter. A section on the aftermath of the Yeshiva College decision looks at later court decisions, injunctions and "unprotected" unions, administration unfair practices, the possibility of an administration revoking recognition in mid-contract, and administration tactics in circumventing the legal problems. The second section addresses the issue of "Duty of Fair Representation," the idea that a union owes the same measure of protection to all members of a unit, whether they are union members or not. The concept, its background, and impact on the campus are examined, and a number of substantive issues raised. Further sections discuss the name and scope change of the Center to include professional education, news and notes of the organization, and newsworthy events in arbitration, court cases, elections, legislation, retirement, students and teaching assistants, and workload.
