Competency Based Vocational Education Staff Development. Final Program Performance Report.

This final program performance report contains an eight-page narrative and supplementary materials from a competency-based vocational education (CBVE) staff development project. The narrative reports the project whose purpose was to promote curriculum-improvement activities as identified by teachers through a self-evaluation process with the end result being the development of competency-based materials and skills necessary to implement the materials. It summarizes these outcomes resulting from teacher participation in six workshops: fourteen teachers developed a better understanding of CBVE, engaged in self-evaluation of curriculum materials developed prior to the project to determine activities most in need of work, and developed products or plans of action to improve programs. These supplementary materials are appended: an example of a competency list; a competency learning guide form; self-evaluation form for curriculum improvement; assumptions, concepts, and principles pertaining to CBVE; transparency summary for the workshops; workshop activities; followup on self-evaluation, which looks at problem areas identified by the Department of Education in their evaluation of vocational-technical schools; and a bibliography.
