Staff Development Needs in Elementary Schools that Individualize Instruction. Technical Report No. 543.
Fleming, Patrick J.
Staff development programs are seen by many as the means to solving many educational problems. This study identifies staff needs and the staff development strategies that teachers in Individually Guided Education (IGE) elementary schools prefer. Divided into four chapters, this study offers suggestions for principals, inservice coordinators, teacher training institutions, and others responsible for staff development programs. Chapter I provides background information and past research pertaining to staff development programs. Chapter II details the research methodology used for this report. Chapter III describes and analyzes the data; and Chapter IV concludes this study with a summary and implications for practice and further research. Appendices include a bibliography, several of the questionnaires used for the study, and charts and figures detailing the results. (CJ)
