CSMP Mathematics for the Intermediate Grades, Part VI, Teacher's Guide: General Introduction, The World of Numbers, Workbooks, The Languages of Strings and Arrows, Geometry and Measurement, Probability and Statistics. Experimental Version.
Armstrong, Richard; And Others
This two-volume teacher's guide is to be used with a second-semester, sixth-grade mathematics program. The manner of presentation and the pedagogical ideas and tools are based on the works of Georges and Frederique Papy. They are recognized as having introduced colored arrow drawings ("papygrams") and models of our numeration system (the Papy "minicomputer"). This two-volume set contains six sections: (1) General Introduction; (2) World of Whole Numbers; (3) Languages of Strings and Arrows; (4) Geometry and Measurement; (5) Probability and Statistics; and (6) Workbooks. Each section has its own table of contents. Suggestions for planning and conducting lessons that include lesson descriptions, suggestions on the use of worksheets and manipulative materials, and general remarks relating to certain sequences of lessons are also included.
