A widely replicated Title I reading-through-the-arts experiential program designed to provide remedial instruction in reading and to promote increased interest in reading and other academic areas is described in this report. Following an overview of the program and a statement of its philosophy, the report provides information about the various components of the program, including staff, reading oriented arts workshops, reading workshops, teacher made materials, field trips and special events, exhibitions of student work, performing arts and film festivals that feature student work, parents' workshops, preservice training for teachers and training materials used, and evaluation procedures and results. Information is also provided concerning replication of the program, dissemination services, and the cultural institutions that assisted in the program. (FL)
