This is the sixth of 16 volumes of audiolingual classroom instruction in Mandarin Chinese. The course is designed to train native English speakers to Level 3 Foreign Service Institute proficiency in comprehension and speaking, and to Level 2 proficiency in reading and writing Mandarin. The present volume requires the student to read and write Chinese characters, and to respond orally to questions posed in Chinese characters. Instructional materials in the eight lessons include dialogues, grammar analyses, translation and question-answering exercises, pattern drills, pictorial aids, and reading and writing exercises. The emphasis of the course is on military science. (JB)
