Vocational Education for Handicapped Individuals in California.
Durham, Diana J.; Kennedy, Virginia E.
These resumes and citations provide information on inservice training opportunities, model programs, and resources for California vocational educators working with exceptional adolescents and young adults in vocational programs. The four divisions of the document are (1) inservice training opportunities, (2) model sites, (3) resources, and (4) references. Training programs chosen for inclusion had to answer one of the following training needs: to increase awareness of the characteristics and needs of exceptional individuals, to increase knowledge of laws and service delivery systems for implementing them,or to increase skills in teaching exceptional students. Model sites had to meet one of these criteria: dissemination capabilities, provision for visitor observation, or staff willingness to share experiences and techniques. The format for these two sections includes title, funding source, audience, content, intended learner outcomes, format and techniques, costs, materials, and contact. Two final sections provide information on organizations, agencies, and materials useful in program development or improvement. The resources section gives the scope, address, and phone number of national, California, and federal and state government agencies. The references section gives bibliographic information--title, author(s), publication date, source or publisher--for selected readings, professional jounrals, and bibliographies of instructional materials. A selected list of publishers of commercial materials is also provided. (YLB)
