Massachusetts Assessment of Basic Skills 1978-79. Technical Report. Mathematics, Reading, Writing.
Massachusetts State Dept. of Education, Boston. Bureau of Research and Assessment.
As part of a series of annual evaluations of the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes of Massachusetts public-school students, this report represents the assessment of basic skills attainment of grade 12 students. The first three chapters contain a summary of the design and methodology of the testing program. The remaining five chapters present the results of the student questionnaire, the principal questionnaire, and the achievement test results in mathematics, reading, and writing for the tests as a whole and for the items separately. A two-stage stratified cluster design was used to select a representative sample of students in grade 12 from six geographic areas and four kinds of communities: big cities, industrial suburbs, residential suburbs, and other communities. Each student was administered one of the three tests. (Author/CTM)
