Intended to show the general growth and development of the church library field, this bibliographical survey reviews periodical articles, published manuals, and unpublished library school papers related to libraries located in or attached to local church buildings. The following areas are explored: general studies; the role and function of church libraries; church library surveys; technical aids for church librarians (including manuals, book selection, cataloging, and promotion): bibliographic studies; and historical studies. Appendices provide a chart of unpublished studies arranged by subject, an author index, a list of published articles, and a bibliography of references to additional information. (FM)
