The document presents an annotated bibliography of literature, training materials, and other resources relevant to citizen advocacy for developmentally disabled persons, with special emphasis on materials produced in the last 5 years. The focus is on publications that can be useful to advocacy programs staffed largely by laypersons and volunteers; technical materials intended for professionals are generally excluded. Resources listed focus primarily on consumer advocacy, citizen advocacy, or lay advocacy. Entries are grouped under fourteen subject areas and include title, author, publisher or other distributor, date of publication, pagination, and rental or purchase price. A brief description of the materials is provided. Intended users are indicated. Major subject areas include developmental disabilities (with subheadings "general,""attitudes," and "parenting"); advocacy (with subheadings "principles" and "training"); administration (with subheadings "leadership,""volunteers,""fundraising," and "public relations"); rights and benefits (with subheadings "legal rights,""education,""employment," and "supplemental security income"); access and travel; community living; periodicals; bibliographies; resource organizations; and state agencies.
