The purpose of this annual survey is to provide basic, ongoing profiles of the educational concerns on Ontarians. The 1979 survey involved a representative sample of 1,084 adults, 18 years of age and over, who were interviewed in their homes across Ontario, as well as a special sample of corporate executives (148 respondents), who replied to a mail questionnaire during the same period. Findings for each of the major educational policy areas covered by the survey are discussed in chapter 2. The issues include the relation of education to other public priorities; overall assessments of educational services; curricular goals; school organization; relations between school and work; educational financing; politics of education; and declining enrollments. The report concludes that a growing dissatisfaction with educational services in Ontario has led to an increasing priority for improving those services. (Author/LD)
