Speakeasy: A Text for Speaking, Volume 3. English for Special Purposes Series: Nursing Aide.
Clark, Marybeth
This is the last of three volumes devoted to improving speech skills, in a series of materials for teaching English as a second language to adult nursing aide students. Three units contain five lessons each. The following subjects are covered: (1) talking about personal appearance, checking patients, and reporting to the nurse; (2) interviewing patients and further aspects of reporting to the nurse; and (3) general conversational procedures and job interviews. Pattern drills and dialogs are the principal lesson formats. Each unit is completed with review exercises. At the conclusion of the volume, a class project is proposed in which students will plan an entire city. (JB)
