A Syllabus for an Inservice Course in Applied Latin Linguistics.

Six units are presented for the study of applied Latin linguistics, in a course designed for elementary and secondary school teachers. The units cover the following topics: (1) notes on structural linguistics, the phoneme, Latin phonemes, and phonemic transcriptions; (2) the morpheme, identification of morphemes, morphs, allomorphs, and Latin morphemes; (3) first declension nouns, nominal inflections, and adjectives and adverbs; (4) morphophonemics, order of morphemes, the Latin verb, and the structure of Latin verbs; (5) syntactic devices in Latin, word order, and function words; and (6) lexicon and word structure in Latin. Exercise sheets and masters for charts and diagrams to be handed out in class are included in each unit. (JB)
