To Develop and Test Improved Procedures for the Development and Distribution of Quality Individualized Mediated Instructional Materials in Vocational Education. Final Report.
State Fair Community Coll., Sedalia, MO.
Five objectives are reported for a project to develop and test effective procedures for designing, field testing, reproducing, and disseminating individualized mediated instructional materials: (1) improvement of teacher input, (2) development of individualized instruction modules, (3) development of methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of teacher prepared materials, (4) development of a material reproduction and dissemination system, and (5) collection and analysis of data related to cost. Methods and procedures, results, and conclusions and recommendations are discussed. Project results (materials) are included in appendixes comprising the major portion of the report. An instructor's guide to the development of individualized instruction modules presents background information on this approach and learning styles and discusses identifying student competencies, developing student objectives, format and content organization, learning activities, evaluation, media selection, and script writing. Sample curriculum advisory committee agenda, member list, and minutes and a handbook are listed. The sixty-five modules (covering business and office occupations, agribusiness, health occupations, welding, and student preparation for employment) produced by the project are listed. Other appendixes include sample contracts, module, time sheets, and brochure; procedures for determining module credit equivalent and payment; pretest to measure the instructor's individualized instruction curriculum development competencies; and a module evaluation framework with evaluation instruments.
