The CATE: Children's Attitudes Toward the Elderly. Test Manual.
Jantz, Richard K.; And Others
The Children's Attitudes Toward the Elderly (CATE) is designed to assess the attitudes of children, ages 3 to 11, towards the elderly through analysis of the affective, behavioral, and knowledge components of attitudes. To achieve a balanced sample of test items for each domain, four measurement techniques are used: open-ended questions; semantic differential; picture series; and individual interviews, a Piaget-based technique designed to assess children's cognitive development in regard to concepts of age. For each subtest, the following information is given: administration, definitions and scoring, and validity and reliability. Norming data are included in the manual. The four subtests are appended.
