A Proposal for a K-12 Sequence of Environmental Education Competencies.
Culbert, Jack; And Others
Presented is an overview and model of the proposed curriculum development process in environmental education in Connecticut. Concepts and competencies are identified at each grade level and are designed to facilitate the infusion of environmental education activities within the existing curricula using existing learning resources such as Earthwatch, Project Learning Tree, and Outdoor Biological Instructional Strategies (OBIS). Concepts are classified into six categories: ecosystems, population, ethics, resources-energy, economics-technology, and environmental quality. Concepts are further classified as those central to environmental education and those assumed to be in the existing curricula. (BT)
