Using Volunteers In Your Agency: Trainer Manual.
National Center for Alcohol Education, Arlington, VA.
This manual is designed to increase the number of volunteer programs in alcohol service agencies and to upgrade existing programs which are being coordinated by helping professionals in alcohol service agencies. The goals of this training program include assisting participants in: (1) being aware of the pros and cons of having volunteer programs; (2) being familiar with several principles in developing and maintaining effective volunteer programs; (3) understanding the systematic sequence for exploring, designing, and implementing pilot volunteer programs; and (4) analyzing the tasks necessary for program implementation in the back-home setting. The methodology for presenting these materials includes the use of small and large group discussions, problem-solving activities, and individual pencil/paper task assignments. Additionally, facilitator instructions and evaluation instruments are provided. (Author/HLM)
