Second Wind: A Program for Returning Women Students.
Carter, Jane O., Ed.
Since most college programs are designed for young people, new programs need to be developed that overcome personal and institutional barriers, including sex-role stereotyping and sex-role socialization, that restrict returning women's educational opportunities on the college campus. This project establishes a model low-cost, self-perpetuating program for these students maintained by the women themselves. Additionally, the project offers training opportunities through a university course which is designed to develop individual and/or group leadership and academic survival skills and to provide experiential learning in several areas including career advisement, minority education, and workshop leadership. The manual describes a program for the development of students as leaders, history and development, training techniques, and information and resources. Project publications and program evaluations are included. (Author/BEF)
