Four Case Studies from the School and Community Project. Home-School Liaison and Minority Groups.
Canberra Coll. of Advanced Education (Australia).
Descriptions are given of four Australian programs intended to improve relations between primary and secondary school personnel and surrounding multiethnic communites. Presented in the form of four case studies, a variety of community-school issues are considered. In particular, the need for sensitive and well-trained counselors to serve as liaison personnel between parents and schools is emphasized. Programs examined include communication improvement techniques instituted at two primary schools, the social and economic issues involved in the operation of a school-generated community center, and the language and cultural difficulties of providing counsel leading to self-help for a Queensland aboriginal community.
