Project FOCUS. Methods and Materials for Training Career Educators. Final Report. Volume 3--Theory and Research: Evaluation Results.
Boston Univ., MA. School of Education.
Program Methods and Materials for Training Career Educators (Project FOCUS) established and accomplished three major objectives: (1) to identify, select, and provide inservice career awareness staff development training for elementary school teachers; (2) to design, develop, and evaluate a replicable, exportable, and practical staff development Training Manual (CE 022 608); and (3) to research the effectiveness of the career awareness Training Manual and to validate the efficiency of matching teacher variables to training procedures. The results of the program provided replicable, exportable training programs and recommendations for their use according to the receptivity of the group to be trained. Although these materials were developed for the K-8 level, minor modifications of the content would make them applicable for all other levels. The nature of the programs and the research related to the matching of learning strategies to types of individuals remained constant. The design of the evaluation model sought to combine the essential elements of formative and summative evaluation with formal education research. (This document presents a detailed report of the evaluative procedures employed and an analysis of the results of these procedures. See CE 022 607 for a general description of the developmental and organizational activities of the project.) (BM)
