A Survey of New Jersey Educational Resource Agencies and Their Available Services.
New Jersey State Dept. of Education, Trenton.
A summary of the results of a statewide education resource base survey conducted in the summer of 1977 provides school users with educational resource information originating in New Jersey. Educational improvement centers, county offices, colleges, universities, and other educational centers in the state yielded an 86 percent response rate to the 90 questionnaires sent out, which were designed to elicit information relative to the general nature and extent of resource base holdings and services. The general information section of completed questionnaires revealed that 43 of 77 respondents had a base, and 28 of those reported meeting their clients' needs. A section asking for major focuses of the various data collections included the areas of administration/management, curriculum/teaching, general/professional, research/evaluation, and student/human services. Responses to the final section, which was concerned with the types of resources held and the organizations' dissemination activities, indicated that most holdings were commercially developed, most are reviewed annually, most are accessible to the public, and most organizations offer visitor assistance, consultive services, and answer inquiries. Appendices provide the geographic distribution of bases, focus of collections, and product-based and assistance-related dissemination activities, as well as a copy of the survey questionnaire. (FM)
