Educational Opportunities through Federal Assistance Programs. Fiscal 1978.

This report summarizes Ohio's Federally funded assisted educational programs for the 1977-78 academic year. Reviewed are the size and scope of the following: (1) basic programs for disadvantaged youth; (2) special programs for migrant children; (3) special programs for handicapped children in State-operated schools; and (4) special programs for neglected and delinquent children in State-operated schools. Each review lists the degree of school district participation, grant awards, expenditures, program highlights, and program successes. Other activities and programs summarized include the allocation of grants for library resources and learning materials, programs for strengthening the Ohio Department of Education, and adult basic education programs. In addition, the main components of two public laws which provide funds to school districts are outlined and a financial summary of funds distributed by the Division of Federal Assistance is provided.
