Living and Learning for Credit.
Shoup, Barbara J.
The possibilities for community-based learning at the secondary level are discussed. Experiential learning opportunities are perceived as legitimate experiences occurring in nonschool settings that may serve as alternatives to formal curriculum or as means for augmenting classroom learning. Practical suggestions are made for the teacher who wishes to develop a learning program of this type. Community opportunities are explored with a discussion of methods for obtaining satisfactory results and also problems that may be faced. Forms are appended as examples of types of records for individual students that may be used for evaluation purposes. (JD)
