Multi-Ethnic Resource Guide.
Indiana Univ., South Bend. Ethnic Heritage Studies Program.
Developed as part of an ethnic heritage studies program, the guide lists community cultural and ethnic resources in South Bend, Indiana. Resources include individuals willing to talk about their cultural heritage, ethnic organizations, churches, radio programs, holidays, and restaurants. The guide also includes annotated bibliographies relating to the various ethnic groups. The purpose of the guide is to help individuals identify persons willing to visit classes, schools, or special groups, and discuss aspects of their cultural heritage. The document is divided into two main sections. Section I lists resources for five ethnic groups: Afro-American, Hungarian, Italian, Mexican, and Polish American. An annotated list of resource persons with telephone numbers appears for each group, as well as lists of ethnic organizations and their addresses, churches including the pastor's name, radio programs and newspapers, short descriptions of holidays and festivals, and restaurants. One multicultural presentation is included. Section II supplements the bibliography (SO 011 906), annotating audiovisual materials, bibliographies, curriculum materials, books, and miscellaneous vertical file materials for each of the five groups, other ethnic groups, and multicultural materials. The document concludes with a compilation of documents produced by the Ethnic Heritage Studies Program and information collected about ethnic groups in South Bend. (CK)
