United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, Bangkok (Thailand). Regional Office for Education in Asia and Oceania.
The annotated bibliography lists 299 materials written in the 1970s about population education, with emphasis on the Asian region. Citations are included for journals, newsletters, and serials publications. The objective is to make available information on which curriculum developers, educators, and practising teachers may draw in developing population education programs. The document is presented in three parts. Part I provides 103 articles about population education, including 73 covering goals, objectives, programs, research, and evaluation for in-school and out-of-school activities; and 30 entries describing instructional materials and teaching methods. Part II lists 194 entries focusing on the Asian region with emphasis on eight topics: agricultural and economic development, education, education and socioeconomic factors, family structure and marriage, health and nutrition, population trends and policy, socioeconomic factors, population and family size, and urbanization and migration. Part III offers bibliographies of population education, population studies, and the social sciences, as well as the addresses and price of journals and periodicals used as sources. Each entry contains bibliographic information such as author, title, location, publisher, date, and number of pages. Language is indicated if it is not English and descriptors appear at the right of each entry indicating topic and geographic area. Subject, geographical, and author indexes conclude the document.
