Intended to highlight challenges facing academic library managers and to review current activities and programs, this annual report of the Office of Management Studies (OMS) of the Association of Research Libraries describes 1978 activities and programs and considers 1979 priorities. In particular, the activities of four core programs are presented: (1) the Academic Library Program, initiated in 1978 and focusing on organizational change; (2) the Information Collection and Dissemination Program; (3) the Organizational Training and Staff Development Program; and (4) the Applied Research and Development Program. Various projects and programs are noted under each. A bibliography of OMS publications and related documentation in 1978 is also provided. (JD)
