This training manual is for use in preparing staff members to use the Focus Model, which is a "school within a school" for disaffected high school students. The material is designed to be used as a resource aid following participation in an in-service workshop. Information is presented to help implement a contracting system to establish and fulfill meaningful social and academic goals. Specific subject areas are also dealt with, including math, English, history, language arts and creative arts. A section on work programs provides background and resource material for helping students get useful job experience, including decision-making and self-management skills. (Author/BP)
