Objectives, with sample test items and explanations of answers are presented for instruction in judgment and logic in analyzing fallacies and weaknesses in arguments. This type of material is not usually taught in pre-college curricula, but has been geared for the secondary grades. Each fallacy is explained after the stated objective, and answers are followed by comments. Categories of logical thinking are: (1) fallacies of relevance; (2) fallacies of insufficient evidence; (3) fallacies of ambiguity; (4) context mixing, metaphors, and analogies; and (5) valid and sound arguments. Test items covering each category, examples of pretests, posttests, and a comprehensive test are given, along with correct answers. (MH)
