The Relationship of Human Values to Perceived Teaching Styles.
Rosenblatt, Ronald R.; Parish, Thomas S.
The relationship between a teacher's human values orientation and individual teaching style is explored. Undergraduate education majors were asked to complete the Teaching Style Q-Sort instrument containing 16 statements about teacher behavior, identifying each as most like or unlike their own style. The subjects were also asked to respond to the Rokeach Value Survey identifying those social and personal values they held in most and least esteem. An analysis of the results of this study indicated a tentative relationship between teaching styles and individual values. A number of specific values showed significant differences in ranking across teaching styles. (JD)
