This collection of articles, intended for kindergarten teachers, focuses on the importance of the teacher's relationship with parents and the need for parents to be active participants in their child's educational development. The first article reviews the literature and research related to parent/early childhood education, touches on some current issues, and suggests that parent education is a necessary prerequisite to parent involvement in the school program. The second article presents a systematic plan for parent-child involvement which includes conducting a needs assessment, drafting an overview, formulating a plan, initiating contact and evaluating the process. The final article describes how parents and others from the community incorporated to provide various language arts experiences for children in the kindergarten. (Author/SS)
