Try Another Way in California. Final Report of the California Project.
Galloway, Charles; Lecours, Ronald G.
The report summarizes a 2-year project to train personnel in California agencies, facilities, schools and state hospitals in the principles of Try Another Way, a normalization-geared approach using systematic task analysis to teach moderately to profoundly retarded and severely developmentally disabled persons. The report's first three sections discuss the purpose, goals, strategies, and interlocking roles of the project. A fourth chapter describes the results of the project's impact on the California service system and the impact that training had on agency clients. An evaluation of the project's strengths and weaknesses is followed by recommendations to departments of state government, human service agencies, and individual trainers. Among six appendixes are a list of completed task analyses and objectives for participants and a task analysis rating system. (CL)
