Since acts of teacher brinkmanship were considered to represent an expression of the teachers' dissatisfaction with the teachers' role, it was conjectured in this study that a relationship should exist between teachers' attitudes toward teacher brinkmanship and the teachers' job satisfaction. Two instruments, the Teacher Job Satisfaction Inventory and the Teacher Brinkmanship Inventory, were administered to 296 teachers and the results were intercorrelated. Analysis of the various factors and scenarios presented in the inventories and the intercorrelation showed that attitudes toward acts of teacher brinkmanship are related to the teachers' job satisfaction derived primarily from the principal. Acts of teacher brinkmanship are not isolated acts related to nothing, and principals might do well to interpret such acts as functional and deal with them accordingly. (DS)
