Bibliographic Instruction Program.
Wisconsin Univ. - Parkside, Kenosha. Univ. Libraries.
This document presents individual program and instruction objectives for students, faculty, community residents, and staff involved in the bibliographic instruction program at the Library/Learning Center of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. A basic responsibility of the Library/Learning Center is to instruct the university community in the effective identification and use of information resources relevant to its needs and interests. Instructional objectives have been developed for each community group based upon the special needs of the group as identified or perceived by the library staff. Written objectives developed to identify the skills to be taught and objectives for each user community have been divided into levels of instruction based upon user sophistication. Currently, there are seven methods or programs of bibliographic instruction: (1) orientation slide/tape, (2) printed guides, (3) basic library skills workbook, (4) advanced workbook, (5) course-integration, (6) English 100, and (7) discovering research for college-bound high school students. Evaluation of the programs is carried out through informal discussion, formal evaluation forms, and a skills test to evaluate learning. Cost and budgetary information (pages 65-69) is not included.
