Independent Curriculum Enrichment Studies: Learning Packages for the Gifted. Table of Contents; Teachers' Sheets.
Lafayette School District, CA.
The looseleaf binder contains a series of 268 learning packages for gifted and talented elementary school students, divided into 13 subject area sections, including art, chess, general, health, language arts, literature, mathematics, perception, reading, science, social studies, study skills, and thinking skills. Two additional sections include forms for the students to evaluate the program, and a teacher's guide on how to conduct the program. Each of the 268 units is intended to be used in conjunction with various worksheets, tape recordings, slides, microviewers, puzzles, books, activity cards, games, task cards, and other instructional materials kits, that are separately available. Each unit includes a description of materials needed, a list of work the student must turn in, a general description of the unit, and teacher information such as time required. Most units are designed for one or several students. The individual lessons cover such things as cartooning, food groups, letter writing, news reporting, secret codes, anthropology, dinosaurs, career awareness, and maps and globes. (DLS)
