Research Directions in Childhood Visual Impairment.
Michigan Univ., Ann Arbor.
A symposium involving personnel from universities and colleges, individuals from government and private agencies concerned with visual impairment, and doctoral level students was conducted to exchange information on current efforts and future needs in research with the visually handicapped child. Participants were divided into three groups to discuss goals and priorities in: organizational structures for the research community, training of researchers, and areas of needed research. Among evaluation results was that there seemed to be a general feeling that too much was planned for the symposium. (Appendixes, which make up the bulk of the document, include a copy of the initial letter, a list of participants, copies of the second letter and questionnaire, a paper titled "Childhood Visual Impairments--Sources and Uses of Knowledge" by D. Warren, an outline of the agenda, and a sample evaluation form. (SBH)
