A Resource Book on Community School Centers. #6 in a Series of 6 Booklets.
Educational Facilities Labs., Inc., New York, NY.
This booklet is the sixth in a series that examines community school centers. This compendium of resources for planning community school centers contains information on published materials, organizations and associations, and a geographical listing of community school centers. The materials include recent literature on community school centers and interagency cooperation, enrollment decline and the reuse of surplus school space, and general background information. Most of the cited publications contain extensive bibliographies. Reference books, catalogues, federal laws, specific leases, and documents on governance are listed. The section on organizations lists national groups offering newsletters, technical assistance, and other services in planning community school centers. It includes resources for locating regional and state assistance agencies and organizations. The final section presents a selected, briefly annotated, list of community school centers throughout the country (and some in Canada). It includes centers in new buildings and centers operating in surplus space. In addition, it lists communities actively involved in districtwide interagency planning for shared facilities.
