This teacher activity package deals with the process of decision making in children. It assumes that fundamental to decision making is an awareness of one's own opportunity to make decisions as well as an understanding of the process itself. It also assumes that children can be helped, by teachers and other influential persons, to see and accept the probable consequences of their choices. The objectives of the decision making activities included in this package are to stimulate students' awareness of their decision making opportunities, to provide students some decision making opportunities, and to facilitate students' understanding of the process of decision making. The purpose and procedure of each exercise is provided for the teacher's use. The activities include role playing situations, decision making stories, and questionnaires. Some activities deal with questions concerning the use of drugs and alcohol. (Author/PK)
