In this directory, New York City school district programs funded under various Congressional Acts on education are described. Programs listed fall under, among others: the Adult Education Act of 1966, the Comprehensive Employment Training Act, the Economic Opportunity Act, the Education Development Act, and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (Titles II through VII). Also included are programs falling under legislation related to emergency employment, emergency school aid, environmental education, private funding, Indian education, refugee assistance, national defense education, highway safety, reading improvement, school lunches and nutrition, special projects, agriculture, vocational education and State aid for special programs. The purpose and structure of each Act is briefly described, both nationally and as it applies to New York City. Each district program is summarized and detailed in terms of budget, grade level, personnel, and contact person. A list of information contacts for Federal and State funded programs is also attached.
