1973 College of DuPage Graduates--Five Year Follow-Up.
Bakshis, R. D.
In order to ascertain how successful graduates of the College of DuPage were in attaining their original academic goals, questionnaires were mailed to 943 graduates five years after their graduation in 1973. Response rate was 26%. Survey findings revealed that: (1) of the 223 respondents, 76% felt they had been "very successful" in attaining their original goals--for 132 respondents, this goal was baccalaureate transfer; (2) 85% of those who transferred to a four-year institution received their baccalaureate degree within five years; (3) most respondents had entered the work force, 77% of them in a field for which they had been trained; (4) there was a distinct increase in the number of employers for which graduates worked when compared to findings of previous follow-ups; (5) 68% of employed respondents reported a job advancement, with alumni who had changed employers advancing at a higher rate; and (6) DuPage graduates tended to remain in the geographical vicinity of the college. Data tables also present employment characteristics by declared major. The one-, three-, and five-year follow-up questionnaires and the raw data from these surveys are included. (MB)
