Presented in this document are results of a study conducted to determine the needs and problems of minority women with regard to vocational education. Information provided includes: (1) a description of the study's objectives, methodologies, and development; (2) an overview of minority women and employment; (3) highlights of Federal legislation pertaining to minority women; (4) strategies for determining the needs of minority women; (5) a discussion of survey findings; and (6) conclusions and recommendations. Specific minority group women considered in the survey include blacks, hispanics, Native Americans, and Asian Americans. Needs expressed by minority women as uniquely affecting their specific racial/ethnic groups are listed. Some of the factors discussed affecting minority women in relation to vocational education include poverty, employment status, educational background, supportive programs, race and/or sex stereotyping, and a lack of role models. Appendices include an annotated bibliography, an interview guide, and short descriptions of programs developed to serve minority women. (EB)
