The document is presented in 15 chapters. Chapter I introduces the report. Chapter II summarizes AELC activities. Chapters III through X describe major elements of AELC centers in Illinois, Tennessee, California, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and New York. Chapter XI presents summary information about AELC centers begun after 1975 in New York City, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. Chapter XII reviews approaches to teacher education including in-service workshops, materials development, and college courses. Chapter XIII summarizes data from teacher and principal questionnaires. Chapter XIV presents background information on the Aesthetic Education Project which sponsors AELCs. Chapter XV consists of appendices including a directory of AELC's, activity records, evaluation forms, and schedules of activities in various learning centers. (DB)
